Talk to the Lord

Richard Roberts Malaysia

Around about the 20th floor there was a flag-pole that was sticking out.  He grabbed it as he fell, and he hung on for dear life.  He began to talk to the Lord, and pretty soon the Lord spoke to him.  He said, “Do you believe that I delivered Daniel from the lion’s den?”  “Oh yes Lord, I believe,” and he hung on.  “Well, do you believe that I delivered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from Nebuchadnezzar’s burning fiery furnace?”  “Oh, yes Lord, I believe!”  “Well, do you believe I delivered Moses and two million Israelites from Egyptian bondage, and out of the hands of Pharaoh?”  “Oh Lord, I believe!”  “Then turn loose!”  The man thought for a moment, and said, “Now look here Lord, I got myself into this mess, I’ll get myself out.”

Well, that’s the way many of you may be.  “I don’t want the Lord to do something unusual.”  There’s a critical moment when you have to believe and you have to respond, and this man made the decision.  What would he do?  He obeyed, he went to the pool, and he washed.  And the Bible says, in John 9, that he came seeing.  I want you to know, that whatever has come against your life is not God’s fault.

The compassion of Jesus

richard roberts (15)

Look at this man, not just blind, but born blind; blind from his birth.  Imagine, never having seen the day, never having seen the face or the features of a human being, never having seen a sunrise of a sunset, never having seen the skyline of a city, or an animal, or a bird, or a car, or a building; never having seen a home.  Imagine the despair.  He had no purpose; or at least it seemed that way until he met Jesus.  I want to declare to you today that this man did have a purpose.  As a matter of fact, everyone has a purpose.  You have one and I, Richard Roberts,  have one.  Make no mistake about it; God has a purpose for you.  And the Bible makes it clear in Isaiah 43:7, the scripture says, “Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”  God has a purpose for your life.  This man was created for the glory of God, and so were you, and so was I.  Therefore we have to live with a purpose in our heart, and we should learn how to live in order to please God.

I want you to notice in this scripture that Jesus paid attention to the man, but not just the man, He paid attention to the condition that the man was in.  The compassion of Jesus began to flow in his heart.

The call of God on my life

And Lindsay’s tears turned into a cry, a shout, for God to touch our baby daughter, our youngest, little Chloe, who’s now twenty-two years of age.  And when we got to the emergency room, they quickly took us back to the examination room, and strapped this big breathing machine on her.  By the time they turned it on, her breathing had come back to ninety-eight percent, the color was back in her face, and she was healed and normal by the power of God.

God wants to be in the very center of your life.  You see, many times people want me to lay hands upon them, or they call, or they e-mail, and they say, “I want you to pray a special prayer over a certain condition that I’m going through right now; and that’s the call of God on my life.  That’s why I’m on television Mondays through Fridays around the world.  That’s the call.  I grew up under the ministry of Oral Roberts, who had a laying on of hands, and sending the Word ministry, and that ministry has come into my life with a double portion.  My father prophesied over me, that at his death a double portion of the Spirit of God would come upon my life.  And now, God has given me that same type of ministry.  That’s why I am on television.
